Athens Foundation Launches Annual Membership Drive
The Athens Foundation is trying to make a difference. In order to carry out its mission to "enhance the quality of life for the people of our region through building endowments, awarding grants, and providing leadership on key community issues now and for generations to come," the Athens Foundation has launched its annual membership drive. The Foundation has awarded over $1,000,000 to local nonprofit organizations over the past 27 years and hopes to expand its membership to help this number continue to grow.
Just last year the Athens Foundation developed partnerships with the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville and granted an additional $75,000 to four local organizations in order to increase access to healthcare for local senior citizens. The Foundation worked with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce to form Leadership Athens County, a program dedicated to developing the leadership skills of young professionals in Athens County to ensure a brighter future for the residents.
The expansion of the Foundation is dependent on the participation of local residents and community members. Without the enthusiasm of Athens County, the Foundation would fail to be able to make an impact on those in need.
The donors, the volunteers, and the members do it for the love of Athens in every township, village and farm, the goal being to better the lives of individuals everywhere in Athens County and surrounding areas. You can too.
